Board of Directors
Rick graduated from NCSU with a BA in English with a concentration in accounting. He has served as a division controller for a national multi-family, single family construction and property management company. He has 30 plus years of experience in real estate development and management expertise. Currently Rick is president of RDA Associates Inc. He is a member of Christ Church in Raleigh. Rick joined the board in 2010.
Robby moved to Raleigh in 2004 from Boone N.C. where he graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Construction Technology. Over the past nine years he has worked as a Project Manager with Greg Paul Builders. While there he has completed over 50 renovation, restoration, and new construction projects, including work on several historically significant structures. He is a LEED Accredited Professional as well as a licensed General Contractor in the state of North Carolina. Robby lives in downtown Raleigh with his wife, Rebecca, their two year old daughter Isla, and dog Boone. Robby joined the board in 2016.
Robby attended Wingate University and for the past 20 years has worked in his family's business, Brinley's Grading Company. He is also co-owner of Lawson Hammocks of Raleigh. He serves as membership chair of the annual Vision Walk for the Foundation for Fighting Blindness. He is also an active supporter of the American Cancer Society, Special Olympics, and the American Diabetes Association. Robby enjoys outdoor activities as well as the Carolina Hurricanes and NCSU Wolfpack. He participates with his oldest daughter in the Y Guides program at the Alexander Family YMCA. He and his family attend Christ Episcopal Church. Robby joined the Board in 2010.
Bob is a retired electronic engineer who worked at IBM on the hardware design of point-of-sale systems and in patent engineering. IBM patented 60 of his ideas. Bob and his wife have a grown daughter, and have been responsible for the care and management of family members with Alzheimer's disease and mental illness for many years. In the mid-to-late 1980's, when homeless men slept in different churches, he worked on homeless issues in Raleigh. He is a member of Pullen Memorial Baptist Church where he volunteers with the youth on Wednesday nights, at retreats and at summer camp. He enjoys boating and salt water fishing. Bob joined the board in 2016.
Keith Donahue is Vice-President of Product Management & Services for Accedian Networks, a privately-held technology company. He holds a BA from McGill University, Montreal, Canada and an MBA from University College, Dublin, Ireland. He lives in Raleigh with his wife, Meredith, and three young children, who all are very active in programs at the Alexander Family YMCA. Keith and his family attend Christ Episcopal Church, where he is a Sunday school teacher, lay reader and volunteer for the Age to Age capital campaign. Keith is an strong supporter of the arts community, presently serving as Vice-Chair of the CAM Raleigh board of directors and immediate past president of the North Carolina Master Chorale. Keith joined the board in 2014.
Karen earned degrees in Engineering and Computer Science from North Carolina State University, and has worked in her professional career primarily in the area of computing support and analysis. Karen lives in Cary with her husband and daughter. She is an active member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church and currently works for the church in their Communications Department. Karen has also served as an officer on the board of directors of a local recreational facility. Karen joined the board in 2014.
David has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from North Carolina State University and is a Partner with Sentinel Risk Advisors, a risk management and commercial insurance firm in Raleigh. He is a member of Christ Church and is also a volunteer and former member of the Board of Directors of Wake Relief, an emergency food resource for the citizens of Wake County. David lives in Raleigh with his wife Mary and three children, Anna, Lily Kate, and Cooper. David joined the board in 2009 and currently serves as Chair.
Brian joined the board in 2014.
Kris graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1976 with a degree in Radio-TV-Film and is a licensed Real Estate Broker and partner with Huntersville, NC based Glenwood Development, LLC. Kris is a single father of three grown children who currently live in the San Francisco area. Kris has lived in Cary since 1993, is a member of West Raleigh Presbyterian Church, and currently participates in the Adult Singles ministry at White Memorial Presbyterian. Kris has a 30 year history in the management, leasing, sales and ownership of shopping center and retail properties. Kris joined the board in 2012.
Tom is a CPA and CFP and owns a firm that focuses on tax and financial consulting and also mentoring and executive coaching. In 1999, he founded The Ministry Incubator, a not-for-profit organization helping help struggling entrepreneurs to create their own businesses. Tom is a graduate of Virginia Tech and an active member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he serves on the Community Service and Worship Committees. He is also on the board of Mayview Opportunities and Resources, and is currently Treasurer of Wheels 4 Hope. Tom joined the board in 2013.
Jeremy (Jerry) Sayre
Jerry has practiced law in North Carolina since 2004 and is currently employed with Ward and Smith where he focuses on employment law. He has a BS from John Carroll University and a law degree from Ohio State University. Jerry has been active in the Great Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, serves on the board of the Wake County Community Foundation, and is a member and former treasurer of the Rotary Club of Raleigh. He and wife Mandy have a four year old daughter, Eloise. Jerry joined the board in 2013.
Jane graduated from Alfred University with a Bachelors degree in nursing and has spent the majority of her career working in community mental health. For the past nine years she has worked with homeless men and women in Wake County, first with the Raleigh Rescue Mission and then with Clark's Promise. This gave Jane the opportunity to work with men and women on the street. She is currently employed by Wake Med as part of their community case management team. Jane joined the board in 2011.
Hugh and his wife Sara have been active residents for over 30 years of Historic Oakwood, where Emmaus Houses 1 and 2 are located. Hugh has a BA from Vanderbilt University and a BD from Drew University. In 2004 he retired from a working career that included Methodist campus ministry; student personnel administration; and international elections administration in Cambodia, Mozambique, Georgia, Bosnia, and Kosovo. He is a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, and his community commitments include support of historic preservation, civil and political issues, and human service organizations. Hugh joined the board in 2014.
Mary Ann Turner
Mary Ann earned her undergraduate degree from UNC-CH and an M.S. from Virginia Commonwealth University in Occupational therapy. Currently, she works with Wake County Schools as lead occupational therapist. She is a member White Memorial Presbyterian Church. Mary Ann is active in the adult choir and music teacher for 2 year olds and has previously served as a deacon, elder, and a leader in the singles ministry. Mary Ann joined the board in 2010.
Frank graduated from the University of Detroit, magna cum laude, with a degree in accounting. He began work with Arthur Young & Co. as a staff accountant in 1971 and joined United Telecommunications, a predecessor of Sprint Corp., in 1974. He held several positions in finance at various Sprint subsidiaries over the remainder of his career and retired in 2000 as a Vice President and former CFO of Sprint Mid-Atlantic Telecom. Since retirement, Frank has remained busy, serving in various capacities with the Girl Scouts, Habitat for Humanity, and also with the Raleigh City Advisory Board of BB&T. Frank is married to his wife Sue Ann and has two grown children. Frank joined the board in 2012.
John is a Wealth Advisor with First National Bank and has been in the financial services industry for over 20 years as an Institutional Equity Trader and Wealth Advisor. He is a native of Richmond Virginia and graduate of Hampden-Sydney College with a degree in management economics. John, his wife Shannon, and daughter Georgeanne moved to Raleigh in January to be near family - Shannon is a native of Winston Salem. John started volunteering for recovery centers when he lived Philadelphia, Baltimore, and most recently Houston. He is an avid runner and will be a member of the Leadership Raleigh Fall 2017 class. Former board positions include Back On My Feet (Baltimore), Open Door Mission (Houston), and Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation (Houston). John joined the board in 2017.
Joe DeMuro, Resident Director
Joe has an Associates degree in Social Services from Middlesex County College and earned a Bachelors of Science in Sociology from Montclair University. Joe has experience working with runaways, emotionally disturbed individuals, mentally challenged individuals and autistic individuals. Joe also has experience working in residential treatment. Joe joined as Resident Director in 2011.
